Statuatory rate for phonomechanical royalties

For the periods between January 1st, 2004 to December 31st, 2005 The statuatory rate for phonomechanical royalties is as follows:

  • 8.50 cents for songs under 5 minutes
  • 1.65 cents for minute or fraction thereof over the first 5 minutes

For songs longer than 5 minutes the statuatory rate is as follows:

  • 5:01 to 6:00 = $.099 (6 X $.0165 = $.099)
  • 6:01 to 7:00 = $.1155 (7 X $.0165 = $.1155)
  • 7:01 to 8:00 = $.132 (8 X $.0165 = $.132)

In January 1st 2006 the rate will rise to 9.1 cents for songs up to five minutes and 1.75 cents for minute or fraction thereof.
